Food Store
The grocery store in downtown Kaleva has re-opened and is now called Kaleva Meats. The store was originally called Co-ops because it was a cooperative formed by the early townspeople. It "went public" in the early seventies, and has had several owners and name changes since. The store is open daily from 8am to 6pm and has a full line of meats and groceries.
The first store in Kaleva was built in 1901 and burned down in 1910. The Finns brought the concept of cooperatives to America.
